World class training infrastructure with a pool of around 17,000 highly qualified, competent and experienced manpower, can provide training of global standards on entire gamut of power generation in all modes i.e. class-room, online and onsite. The state of the art training centers located pan-India caters to design and conduct training and capacity building programs on Technical, Managerial, Environmental, Legal and other aspects of Power Sector.
Power Management Institute (PMI)
NTPC’s Power Management Institute (PMI) located in Noida, India, is a full-fledged training facility with excellent faculty having hands on industry experience and resourceful library.
The Institute is involved in the training and development of entry to senior-level personnel not only from the power sector but from organizations outside the sector also. PMI has over the years trained a large number of professionals from NTPC, State Electricity Boards and other power utilities in the country.
PMI has also been training power professionals from other nations on a regular basis. PMI delivers programmes to overseas Power Sector companies in the different countries and participants from South Asia, Gulf and African countries.
Some of the programmes conducted for international participants are:
- Training to technical persons at Oman Refinery in Oman for restoration and efficiency improvement;
- O&M and simulator training of Tunisian engineers for Gas power project, Tunisia;
- Management Training to Power Professionals from BPDB and PGCB of Bangladesh
- Trainings to professionals from Myanmar, Malawi, Eritrea, BIFPCL ETs, ITEC etc.
- Training provided to executives from Saudi Arabia.
- Online training to professionals from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Guyana, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, Suriname, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia.
NTPC School of Business (NSB), was established in 2014 under the aegis of NEARS. It is committed to advance management education, research, training, and consultancy for the energy sector.
Assignments under ITEC Program
Partnering with Development Partnership Administration division of Ministry of External Affairs(MEA), Govt. of India, NTPC is conducting capacity building programs for power professional from different countries under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Program of MEA. International Business Development (IBD) department, NTPC, in association with NSB, has conducted five tailor made capacity building programs for professionals from Myanmar, and four programs for professionals from Indo Pacific region countries, under the ITEC framework in the year 2023, whereupon a total of 174 professionals took part. Seven more programs for professionals from Kenya, Uganda, and Morocco, under the same framework, with an estimated participation of 140, are planned for the year 2024.
