NTPC Foundation

“NTPC Foundation” was formed by NTPC Ltd. in December 10, 2004, as a charitable Trust, with a vision to serve and empower the physically challenged and economically weaker sections of the society. The Foundation undertakes various activities/schemes/programs/projects /initiatives in accordance with the provisions of Section 135 of the companies Act, 2013 and any activities in line with CSR & Sustainability Policy of NTPC.

At present, the Foundation is carrying out various flagship programs of NTPC, primarily in the areas of Health, Education, Girl Empowerment, etc. for inclusive growth and equitable development of the persons with disabilities & women. Recently the Foundation has been entrusted with the implementation of NTPC’s Flagship “Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM)” program at various NTPC Locations Pan India in addition to existing activities.

Key Initiatives by NTPC Foundation:

Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM): A four-week residential workshop for girl children in the age group of 10 to 12 years. The workshop aims at empowerment/upliftment of girl children through various interventions to make girls self-reliant and confident in all walks of life and become a catalyst in transforming their lives, the lives of their family and bring positive changes in the community they live and the nation at large. A summer residential workshop for 4 weeks is organized for girl children in the age group of 10-12 years selected from various Govt. Schools of villages in the vicinity of NTPC Projects/Stations including NTPC Joint Ventures & Subsidiaries. The entire cost of the program including their boarding & lodging in a safe & secure environment of these girl children is borne by NTPC. Further, free education of around 180 girl students admitted to different Township Schools of NTPC. In the year 2022, the said programme is conducted at 33 Projects / stations/ JV & Subsidiaries of NTPC where around 2400 girls participated.

NTPC Foundation NILD Disability Rehabilitation Centres (NFNDRC): NTPC in collaboration with National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan) is providing rehabilitation of Persons with Disability (PwDs) through its Disability Rehabilitation Centres at Korba, Dadri, Rihand, Tanda, Farakka and Bongaigaon through restorative surgeries, medical interventions, fitting of artificial aids and appliances, therapeutic services etc. Approximately 52858 PwDs were registered at these Centres and around 115776 surgical corrections, serving aids & appliances have been provided to them.

Programme for TB Control – DOTs cum DMC : Complementing the efforts being made by Govt. of India under Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) at National level, NTPC Foundation has established 9 DOTs cum DM Centres (Directly Observed Treatment short course cum Designated Microscopy Centre) at Singrauli, Rihand, Dadri, Unchahar, Korba, Vindhyachal, Ramagundam, Farakka & Kahalgaon Power stations that cater to villages upto 25-30Km for Controlling the spread of TB & HIV. At present 9 centres are functional and around 58073 persons were examined for TB upto March’ 2022.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centres: Providing IT Skills to visually/physically challenged persons through its Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Centres and provide support to move along mainstream society. Around 2259 students have been benefitted till March’2022 and placed at different Govt. Institutes mainly in banking sector through its various Centres which were set up jointly with University of Delhi, Guwahati University (Guwahati) and Devi Ahillya Vishwavidyalaya (Indore) and four Govt. Blind Schools at Ajmer (Rajasthan), Lucknow (UP), Thiruvanathapuram (Kerala) and Mysore (Karnataka). At present ICT Centre at Devi Ahilya VishwaVidyalaya, Indore is functional and imparting training successfully to students with disabilities.

NTPC UTKARSH - Merit Scholarship Scheme of NTPC: In order to encourage and motivate children and youth, for higher studies, from neighbourhood villages of NTPC Projects / Stations, NTPC management has launched NTPC UTKARSH - a Merit Scholarship under NTPC Foundation applicable to students from economically weaker & marginalised section of community in the villages in vicinity of NTPC Projects/Stations. The scheme has benefitted 4062 students upto Academic year-2022
