Shri Harsh Tiwari of NTPC-Dadri won the 4th Prize during the Namami Gange photo competition held on 13th June, 2018.
The award was presented by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Shri Satyapal Singh, Minister of State for Human Resource Development amidst other dignitaries.
The Namami Gange Photo competition started from 16th March till 31st March, 2018 across India and focused on Livelihood, Festivals, Historical, Architecture, Biodiversity, Human Activities, Tourist Attractions along Ganga.

Dr. Farhana Ali, spouse of Shri Asif Ali, Manager (Chemistry) has been conferred with prestigious President Award in the field of Teaching by Vice President of India, Shri Venkaiya Naidu on 5th September 2017. Dr. Farhana is working as a teacher in Govt. High School, Siyahimudi in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. The award has been given in "Recognition of her valuable services to the community as a teacher of outstanding merit".
Dr. Farhana Ali also received Governor’s Award in the year 2012 for her contribution as an outstanding teacher.

Inspite his Visual impairment, Shri Dilip Kumar has shown excellent and appreciable performance at work since his association with NTPC Kawas from 2003. With his dedicated efforts he has completed MA in Hindi & MBA.

Shri Kulamani Biswal , Director ( Finance ) NTPC has been conferred with GSBA-Top Rankers Excellence Award 2015 – Financial Pride of India - in the Best Finance Professional Category at a gala function organized in New Delhi. The award has been given to Shri Biswal by Top Rankers, a leading consultant in HR, Organizational Development and General Management for his excellence in the area of Financial Management. Award was presented by Eminent Educationist Padamshri Dr. Pritam Singh at the 16th National Management Summit on “Impactful organization- Making it happen “ being held at New Delhi.
Shri Biswal is a Commerce Graduate from Utkal University and a fellow in Cost Accountancy along with MBA from New Port University, California, USA; LLB from Sambalpur University and Diploma in Financial Management from IGNOU.
Shri Biswal is known for his strong financial acumen, updated knowledge base and knack in business networking. Shri Biswal started his career with Coal India Limited in 1985. Later he joined Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission at Director level in 1997. In 2004, he was appointed as Chief (Finance), Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. In CERC, he played a key role in formulation of Tariff Regulations 2009-14 and formation of new company called POSOCO to take care of System Operation and Load Dispatch activities. He also acted as Internal Financial Advisor in CERC as an added responsibility. In NTPC, besides many hats to his credit, he has been instrumental in mopping up USD 750 Million fund from the international market at quite attractive rate of interest for meeting the Capex Requirement of the company. Under his able leadership, NTPC has been able to reduce its cost of debt to 7.81% p.a., a feat many in the industry envy to achieve. Prior to joining NTPC, he was Director (Finance) in Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) from Oct’ 2010 to Dec’ 2013. He played a key role in making MCL as second largest coal company in India in terms of production and profitability. In MCL, he was also responsible for diversification of business into Power Generation, Solar Power, Transmission of electricity etc., for gainful utilisation of surplus funds. He has exposure in entire value chain of power business right from Supply, Distribution to Generation and Regulatory affairs.

Shri K Biswal, Director (Finance), NTPC has been awarded CMA-CFO Award in the Public Sector (Manufacturing) category in recognition to the efforts made by him for application of innovative cost and management accounting techniques in work place.
The award was given by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India during its 56th Foundation Day at New Delhi. Hon'ble Justice Supreme Court Shri Deepak Misra presented the award to Shri Biswal. Ms. J M Shanti Sundaram, IRS, Chairperson, CBEC, Ministry of Finance & Shri SC Mohanty, President ICAI were present.
Shri Biswal became the Director (Finance) of Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited at a very young age of 49 years. As CFO of the company, he believes in becoming a ‘Value Creator’ who works as Strategic Business Partner with CEO. Following this principle, during his short tenure of 38 months in MCL, he strategically advocated the need for diversification beyond coal production and led the formation of Mahanadi Basin Power Limited for setting up a pit head Thermal Power Generation Plant and Neelanchal Power Transmission Company Ltd. into Transmission Business for gainful deployment of surplus fund and development of infrastructure in the State.
Shri Biswal has proven his leadership at personal, professional as well as business level. His rich and varied experience of 28 years in Corporate Finance Management particularly in Coal Sector as CFO MCL & Power Sector as CFO CERC, enabled him to take over the charge of Director (Finance), NTPC Limited, the Maharatna Company of Government of India.
In NTPC also, within a period of 6 months of joining, he has been instrumental in resolving long pending disputes with Coal India Limited, achieving the ambitious capex target of NTPC by incurring capex of Rs.21,705 crore in FY 14, raising Tax Free Bonds amounting to Rs.2250 crore, raising Foreign currency Loans of USD 350 million and closing of Accounts of NTPC for FY 14 within tight scheduled timeline.
Shri Biswal, with endearing inter personal skills, has grown to become a focused leader demonstrating unflinching determination to do whatever must be done to produce the best long-term results and inspiring his team for its contribution and taking responsibility for growth & improvement of the company.

He added that he is proud to be part of an engineering organization like NTPC which is has been a leader and has introduced various innovative benchmarks in the sector.
CMD, NTPC has an illustrious career spanning over 32 years of outstanding contribution in the fields of engineering, general management, strategic management and business leadership. He is a Graduate in Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and a Post-Graduate in Management and Systems from IIT-Delhi.
He has the distinction of becoming the youngest Chief Executive Officer of a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) at the age of 44 years when he joined as Chairman & Managing Director, National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) on April 03, 2001. Prior to that he had worked in prominent public and private sector companies.
Shri Roy Choudhury’s rich and varied contribution has been recognized by prestigious professional, academic and Government institutions, both national and international.

The award was presented on the occasion of IET (UK) Lord Austin Lecture 2012 on theme UK and European Rail Freight- Insight & Lessons for India delivered by Lord Tony Berkely, Chairman, Rail Freight Group and board Member, European Rail Freight Association.
