NTPC installed capacity is now 35354 MW

Total capacity of NTPC group has risen to 35,354 MW with the commissioning of Unit-II of 500 MW of Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar of Aravali Power Company Private Limited (APCPL) a JV of NTPC Limited on 05.11.2011 at 04:58 PM.

NTPC has to grow to be the best generating company in the world by meeting expectations and aspiration of its stakeholders to maintain the leadership position in the sector said Shri Arup Roy Choudhury , CMD , NTPC while addressing the NTPC Employees on the occasion of 36th Raising Day of the Company today. Shri I. J. Kapoor, Director (Comml), Shri D.K. Jain, Director (T), Shri N.N. Misra Director (O)and Shri S.P. Singh, Director (HR) were present with him on the occasion.

He said three most important stakeholders of NTPC are the customers of the organization, the employees at the projects contributing to the power generation and the people living in vicinity of the projects.

He further added that Accelerating growth for generation, Reducing capital cost, Controlling O&M cost and Motivating people shall make NTPC achieve its long term goals. Expecting total commitment from employees with missionary zeal, Shri Roy Choudhury said he looks forward to the suggestions of employees for incorporating better policies and systems of the company.

He emphasized on company‘s special new initiative to Provide Urban facilities at Projects and Stations (PUPS)to further improve the quality of life at NTPC projects with employee participation in the decision.

India’s largest power company, NTPC was set up in 1975 to accelerate power development in India. NTPC has emerged as a diversified power major with presence in the power generation value chain. The total installed capacity of NTPC is 35,354 MW, with 15 coal based, 7 gas based power stations and 6 joint venture / subsidiary power projects located across India. It generated 220.54 Billion Units (BUs) of electricity during 2010-11, contributing more than 27% of total electricity generated in India with about 18 % share of country’s total installed capacity.

NTPC is currently working on many new projects for rapid capacity addition and plans to become 128,000 MW plus company by 2032. In the financial year 2010-11, NTPC had a total income of approx. Rs. 57407.30 cr. and profit after tax of Rs 9102.59 cr.
