Solar Thermal Cooking System (STCS) an innovative low carbon, all weather cooking solution has been installed on October 21, 2015 for first time at an NTPC station. Shri A.K. Jha, CMD, NTPC inaugurated the Solar Thermal Cooking System which is a joint initiative of NTPC Dadri and NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA) at the Main Plant Canteen of the Station. Shri K.K. Sharma, Director (Operations.), Shri R.K. Srivastava, RED (DBF) & ED (NETRA) and Shri Debasis Sarkar, GGM (NCPS) were present on the occasion.
Quick start-up, thermal energy storage, no chemicals required as steam generation is not involved and all weather cooking solution are unique features of the system. All modes of cooking boiling, frying, and baking requiring different temperature regimes can be done through this system comprising Solar and Cooking blocks. The system has capability to store additional solar energy and makes it available for cooking during no or low solar period due to integration with LPG fired Thermic Fluid Heater for non/lean solar period
