- Empowering the Physically Challenged
While a majority of the physically challenged resides in rural communities, most of the existing support system and infrastructure is catering to the urban populace. Recognising this lacuna, NTPC has made empowering the Physically Challenged one of the mainstays of its CSR policy. NTPC Participated for two years in the Abilities Mela, organised by the Business & Community Foundation and the Blind Relief Association. The fair seeks to promote inclusive opportunities for the disabled. NGOs from all over the country participate in the event & showcase products made by the differently abled as well.
Activities to benefit physically challenged persons include distribution of clothes, bags, study material, reimbursement of school fees etc, distribution of tricycles and providing medical appliances. These schemes are undertaken regularly by various Stations. Support was extended to District Administration, Visakhapatnam for preparation and development of Audio Study material for Visually Challenged Persons.
